Alternative Commute Options

May 10, 2016

With the viaduct reopen many of us have gone back to our old commute ways (read:driving solo in our cars), but isn't this a great time to think about other ways of getting around town? With Amazon, Google and Expedia continuing to grow in Seattle traffic is only going to get heavier in the coming years. Have you considered using Metro, Sound Transit or bike commuting? What about creating a carpool or vanpool with co workers? Uber is now also offering a ride share service from many neighborhoods in Seattle.

Sound Transit has now opened its much anticipated Capitol Hill to University line and will continue to expand north over the next several years making that a great option for commuters in neighborhoods surrounding the transit stations.

Cascade Bicycle offers classes for those wanting to learn more about bike commuting. With trails throughout the city and more bike lanes being added this is a great way to get around the city, enjoy and outdoors, and get a little exercise while you're at it! Added bonus, May is bike to work month so now is a great time to join the thousands of other daily bike commuters hitting our roads.

Uberhop is a relatively new service to the Seattle area, but a great option for those of us who like to cut our costs while sharing a ride into work. This option is available during rush hour from select spots across the city.

However you choose to commute it's great to know we have so many option in Seattle!
